St Giles Solstice Walk – 20th June 2015

Our own Cheshire Cats do St Giles Solstice Walk

On Saturday 20th June 2015, over 900 ladies gathered in a sea of fairy wings and general pinkness to take part in the St Giles Hospice Solstice Walk 2015! And our ladies of the society was among them.

Thank you to all who sponsored the wonderful CCDS ladies who completed the course around Lichfield. Overall, the evening raised over £100,000 for St Giles Hospice. St Giles offers specialist care in a variety of settings for patients with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and helpers.

Our latest production Cheshire Cats is a comedy based around characters doing a moon walk to fund raise for cancer research. We thought it would be great for our actual cast to take part in a real one. Our Thursday performance is our charity night where proceeds will be donated to Cancer Research UK all tickets on that night are £8.

Take a look at our photos from the night:

Happy 70th Birthday CCDS!

We’ve turned 70!

Happy Birthday to us,

Happy Birthday to us,

Happy Birthday to CCDS,

Happy Birthday to us!

We have come a long way since a small group of people met at the then Cannock Urban District Council offices back in January 1945. We are now putting on at least two shows a year and performing in venues such as the Prince of Wales, Cannock. To read more about our history take a look at our about us page.

In 70 years, we have reached our 200th production which was ‘Me and My Girl’ that was performed last September at the Prince of Wales in Cannock. We have won awarwebsiteds one being for one of our most successful show ‘Calendar Girls’. To celebrate our milestone this year we have launched our shiny new website. We are really happy to bring our society into the modern day world. Our website is full of past, present and future information, we have our gallery so you can see what we get up to back stage and most importantly it has all the information you need to book tickets to our next show!

We return to the Prince of Wales for our annual pantomime in 2016. From Thursday 28th January to Sunday 31st January this will be our first pantomime to include a Sunday matinee performance.
